Abstract:

The launching and implementation of the Degree in Medicine at the University of Almeria in the academic year 2022/2023, responds to the growing demand for health services, both in the care and preventive areas, as well as other collaborative activities with the local area focused on the promotion of public health. This means an important driver of economic and social and health development in the province. The medical graduate will be able to practice his/her profession in both public and private centers. In addition, he/she will be able to focus his/her work in the educational and/or research field (pharmaceutical, biomedical, etc.) and those other health services that can be performed in private entities such as insurance companies, mutual accident societies, among others. The professional qualification, which is obtained with the present study program, follows the rules for the degree of medicine established in the Order ECI/332/2008, of February 13, 2008. This regulation establishes the requirements for the verification of the official university degrees that enable the practice of the profession of Medicine. It also takes into account the European Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of September 7, 2005 on the recognition of professional qualifications, as well as the Law 44/2003 of November 21, 2003 on the Management of Health Professions. In this research, the teaching guides of the seventy two subjects of the Medicine degree have been examined, and the 10 generic skills of the University of Almeria have been analyzed: UAL1 to UAL10. UAL1- Basic knowledge of profession, UAL2- Using Information and Communication Techniques (ICTs), UAL3- Capacity to solve problems successfully, UAL4- Writing and oral expressing with clarity in Spanish language, UAL5- Development of a sense of criticism and self-criticism, UAL6- Ability to work in a group, UAL7- Learning a foreigner language, UAL8- Commitment to Ethical Business, UAL9- Capacity to design, manage and undertake a task by oneself, and UAL10- Social Responsibility of Business. The aim of this research is to establish the strengths and weaknesses of the skills so far in the aforementioned degree and to make a proposal to improve them
