Abstract:
Social networks are changing the interaction between the students, teacher and contents of the courses in the 21st century. For example, Facebook is a social network that is transforming the teaching-learning conditions. This quantitative research aims to analyze the use of Facebook in the educational process on frequency. The sample is made up of 26 students who attended the Statistics course during the 2017 school year. The Assure model allows 4 sessions to be organized on frequency issues through the Orientation, Knowledge Construction, Knowledge Application and Evaluation stages. Facebook was used to perform various activities before (consultation of audiovisual content), during (review of school activities) and after (communication between participants) of the face-to-face session. The topics of the Unit frequency are Frequency of quantitative data (session 1), Application on the Frequency of quantitative data (session 2), Frequency of qualitative data (session 3), Application on the Frequency of qualitative data (session 4).The professor of the Statistics course uploaded several videos (audiovisual content) on frequency in Facebook before the face-to-face session so that the information was consulted by the students. In the classroom, the students formed teams of 2 to 3 members to solve various exercises about frequency and show the solution of the exercises through Facebook (review of school activities). After the face-to-face session, the students individually presented the homework solution on Facebook in order to discuss the results (communication between participants). The objectives of this research are to analyze the impact of Facebook before (consultation of audiovisual content), during (review of school activities) and after (communication between participants) of face-to-face classes on frequency issues. The results of the linear regression indicate that the use of Facebook in the educational process positively influences the consultation of audiovisual content, review of school activities and communication between participants. Educational institutions have the opportunity to update the activities carried out inside and outside the classroom through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In particular, this research recommends the incorporation of Facebook in the educational field in order to create new spaces for learning and teaching. Even social networks allow the planning and implementation of new school activities through the Internet.
