Abstract:
Education strategies and methodologies prevailing in the classroom must be modified to satisfy the needs and demands of the XXI Century Society. In particular, universities propose using new channels of communicating and sharing knowledge. For this reason, social networks like Facebook allow the professors to explore innovative ways to develop the meaningful learning in the students. In particular, this research analyzes the use of Facebook as a technological tool to facilitate learning related to building applications during the school year 2016-1. The sample consists of 28 students attending the course of “Business Application Development” in Mexico City. The quantitative approach evaluates the impact of using social networks from the perspective of academic performance, user satisfaction and relevance. Finally, this study recommends the use of social networks during the teaching-learning process in order to develop skills.
