Abstract:
In accordance with the Russian Federal Educational Standards students’ engagement in research work is an integral part of teacher training at university. To date the system of higher education is characterized by ambiguity with regard to methods and approaches to organization and assessment of students’ research work.
There is thus a pressing need for modern educational technologies capable of increasing the effectiveness of students’ research activities. The purpose of the article is to prove that the project “Scientific debate” is an effective educational technology to form and develop graduates’ research competence within their scientific research work. The article is based on the data resulting from the integration and realization of the project “Scientific debate” as part of graduate studies at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, State University of Humanities of Social Studies. The authors implement the method of project analysis as an evaluation and monitoring tool to assess the effectiveness of the project “Scientific debate”. The authors describe the main objectives of the project, the process of its realization and the results as well as its sustainability, relevance and ways of further development. The results of the analysis prove the effectiveness of the project “Scientific debate” as an educational technology used to develop graduates’ research competence within their scientific research work at teacher training university. The project creates an enabling environment for students to increase motivation and to develop critical reflection as well as provides opportunities for guiding graduate students in their research work. All of the foregoing has a positive impact and enhances the effectiveness of graduates’ scientific research activities.Keywords:
