Abstract:
Digitalization has become norm for educational activities during the last decade, specifically since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, as most schools worldwide have turned to online teaching. The process might be perceived as both challenging and invigorating, since many of educational systems were relying on profound traditional methods that are no longer able to shape professionals for future jobs. Although the first weeks seemed rather interesting, online teaching quickly reached a downfall in students` interest, as face-to-face methods were erroneously being adapted to online environments. Thus, new ways of teaching had to be implemented to regain interest and engagement. When referring to theoretical disciplines, traditional learning is based on information memorization, lectures and monologues with very little interaction from the audience. Online teaching, especially for visual domains such as architecture and design require different approaches that encourage dialogue and expression of students` opinions. The article aims to highlight a variety of digital techniques that not only enhance student interaction, but also allow multiple points of view and international cultural exchange through synchronous and asynchronous activities. The two case studies show how the implementation of some digital techniques has enriched both teaching and learning experiences.
