Abstract:
The problem of the quality of education is now acute. The rejection of a unified state system of education, of many long-established traditions and the introduction of new ones (testing instead of traditional exams, reduction of classroom hours, etc.) brings this problem to a number of state and public priorities. All subjects of the educational process are interested in ensuring the quality of education. Improving quality has become the key idea of a new philosophy of education.

The quality of education today is interesting not as an abstract topic, but as a key to solving the practical problems. High-quality education is considered from the standpoint of the integrity of the content, training technologies, methods of monitoring and evaluating the results for the compliance of personal development with the requirements of society in the new socio – economic conditions. It is one of the most important characteristics determining the competitiveness of individual educational institutions and national education systems in general. Formed new ideas about the quality of education, having received that person is able to work independently, learn and relearn.

The quality of education is understood as a characteristic of the educational system in a general education institution, which reflects the degree of compliance of real results achieved with regulatory requirements, social and personal expectations.

In this paper, the author used a wide arsenal of scientific research methods, namely: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, historical and logical, abstraction and concretization, modeling - this allowed to cover all aspects of the problem and solve it.

The result of the work is the conclusion that the quality of education should be based on the original system of quality criteria. It means that each university develops its own strategy, which defines the main activities for which strategic goals and areas for improving quality are indicated.

It should be noted that the criteria for the quality of education are represented by two groups:
1. criteria for the quality of knowledge transfer;
2. criteria for the quality of digestion of knowledge.

Modern educational environment has a high degree of competition. Under these conditions, universities tend to improve their competitiveness and gain a higher place in the national and international rankings.

At the same time, the main factor in the competitiveness of universities remains the quality of education.

The article contains an analysis of the model of assessing the quality of educational services of the RUDN University, on the basis of which conclusions and provisions are drawn that could be useful for the target audience working in the field of education and facing problems of ensuring the quality of educational services.
