Abstract:
In this paper the authors examine the global trends of shaping the need for lifelong learning, which change at both the technology foundation and the intellectual learning environment.

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world“ Nelson Mandela.

The development of the Internet and the growth of its information and communication opportunities contribute to the development and rapid expansion of remote education. However, distant learning technology that introduced in the educational process require more thorough didactic study, the completion of learning methods, the analysis of the priorities of the influencing factors. The effectiveness of the training and studying in the remote (online) environment will directly depend on the scientific and methodological feasibility of the developed techniques, forms, methods and learning technologies.

The authors identify three drivers of online education:
– social norms;
– Digital natives;
– Global business.

The results of this study allow to call macro trends that influence education:
- Technology;
– Globalisation;
– Population Shifts;
– Employment Structures;
– Skills Required.

According to the authors, the educational environment offers the following changes:
- a new generation of students and new motivation for learning;
- formation of a new type of teachers, changing forms and methods of teaching;
- the convergence of the traditional full-time study and online education.

And as a consequence: the new demands in the labor market, changing business models and business environment under the influence of information and communication technologies.

In the study authors used some methods such as comparative analysis, synthesis, systematic approach, classification and historical method.
