Abstract:
Testing is an indispensable part of all educational processes. Even in foreign language teaching it has an important place. Exams have different functions from grading students’ success in the language to evaluating the efficiency of the foreign language education. On the other hand, exams are the issues that are not wanted by the students willingly. Especially when they get lower grades, they discuss the necessity of them. They believe that during the exams they cannot show their real performances because of the test anxiety or other factors. They also criticize test types which they find difficult and do not manage to do.

In this qualitative study the tests applied in foreign language teaching will be discussed through the perspectives of English language teaching students, who are the learners of English for a long time and the teacher candidates of English for the future. This study is based on a semi- structured interview which includes 6 questions and 10 sophomore students participated the interview. Their ideas were examined and some suggestions were made for the field.
