Abstract:
Within the context of the new education system in the Higher Education, and following the principles of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), portfolios are being widely used as an assessment tool in the teaching-learning process. Roughly speaking, the portfolio consists of a planned collection of works that the student contributes to show the personal progress in a specific area. These works have a double purpose. On the one hand allow us to evaluate their capacities, skills and abilities achieved by the students in relation with the learning objectives and the evaluation criteria previously established. On the other hand, allows the students think about their efforts and achievements in their own learning which makes that they take active part in the teaching-learning process.

In this paper, a specific portfolio is designed as an evaluation way for the statistical practices with R in the subject Statistical Methods in Engineering of the first course of the Electricity Technical Engineering studies. Moreover, the characteristics and advantages of this evaluation methodology to fit the actual evaluation systems to the Bolonia framework and ECTS demands.
