THE DEBATE AS A PEDAGOGICAL TOOL FROM A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

The present project has tried to implement the pedagogical tool of the debate / round table for the resolution of clinical cases that require a multidisciplinary approach from different areas of the Health Sciences. This approach is very useful for the application of specific knowledge as well as for the development of essential transversal competences. In this way, we have tried to promote not only the autonomous and progressive learning of students, but also the cooperative learning.

During the academic year 2016-17 this educational innovation project has been implemented in five Degrees offered in the Campuses of Vizcaya and Alava of the University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU. Two complex clinical cases have been designed and structured in progressive phases, which have been worked in parallel in the different Degrees. To this end, an on-line support platform for teaching was used. This was supervised by the teaching staff of the involved subjects who acted as dynamizers of the forums. The last phase of the project consisted on the organization of a round table through videoconference and with the support of different Technologies of Information and Communication. In this session, representatives of each Degree presented their approach to the resolution of each clinical case and, finally, a discussion was established for the final complete resolution of the case.

Surveys and the debate have allowed us to conclude that the development of a multidisciplinary approach for the resolution of each clinical case encourages the complementarity among students of different Degrees related to Health Sciences.
