Abstract:
Promote the quality of teaching at higher education institutions presents a series of challenges that normally occur simultaneously. Institutions must guarantee that the education they offer meets not only the expectations of students, but also the requirements of employers, both today and for the future. (Hénard et al., 2012).

It is also true that most students entering the aviation pilot university degree do not know how civil aviation is organized and especially do not know what general aviation is. They want to be aviation pilots, and they only aim to fly passenger aircraft, not realizing that their future qualification will allow them to develop their profession in many other areas of civil aviation.

So, in this educational project we will raise the need and analyze the usefulness of an ab-initio course in the university training of aviation pilots, to bring the real world closer to the classroom, only when the students have entered the university.

For this ab-initio course we use the B-Learning modality within an action framework based on the ADDIE techno-pedagogical model as a core structure (Kemouss et al., 2023). The course is structured in five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. It will include a theoretical part using B-Learning to introduce general aviation knowledge, and a practical part where students will perform a first flight to develop three-dimensional skills more akin to general aviation rather than civil aviation. At the end of each stage, an audit questionnaire will be used both by the teaching staff involved and by a group of students who will collaborate in the first edition of the course.

This ab-initio course will result in a better level of integration of the students, from the beginning of their university life, with their future profession, balancing in an early way the basic theoretical-practical knowledge of the pilots of aviation, this course will serve as a starting point for improving the training quality of this type of profession.
