Abstract:
The pandemic had many effects on our institutions of higher education and on our students, among them, the lack of face-to-face learning, the lack of internships through laboratories, internships, or international experiences. Efforts were made to bring experiential learning into virtuality through: virtual reality, remote laboratories, or coils for the topic of internationalization.
This research is a case study of a private university, with the post-pandemic effect, where international experiences have been diversified, and student participation in semester and year-long experiences has increased to higher levels than before the pandemic. The objective of this research is to evaluate the development of transversal competencies in final year undergraduate students from the perspective of the students and the professor who mentors and accompanies them in international research experiences and internships.
The methodology is qualitative and consists of the following steps: design of the research and instrument, application of the instrument and analysis and reflection of the results. This modality of international linkage experiences through research in pre-pandemia was around 97 students participating, by August December 2023 it is planned that more than 342 students will participate, where 90% are from the School of Engineering & Sciences.
Preliminary results show that both administrative and academic learning, but particularly the richness that is generated in the development of competencies such as intercultural competences and personal well-being.
