DEVELOPING WRITING COMPETENCE AS A WAY OF ENHANCING ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE KNOWLEDGE

Abstract:
There is a tendency in Mexico to have well prepared students to resolve or understand environmental issues however, state schools are not preparing students to have a good writing or express themselves correctly. Students across two campuses and two different majors (total 32), the way of writing, the human interactions and supporting technologies are investigated and analyzed. Also, how students learn and reflex their knowledge on environment. The ideas presented are based on Research Seminary (environmental engineering) and Agro-ecology (agro-industrial engineering) courses in an educational context; however, the issues discussed may be applied to other majors as well. This paper includes a brief description of process, successes and shortcomings, discussing how some of these challenges have been met and how they may be taken forward in the future. Outlined within the paper are the inherent opportunities within such collaborations that enable students to develop a deeper understanding of environment, as well as the outcomes from a focus on the integration of professional traits into the practical aspects of the learning landscape.Keywords:
