Abstract:
Teaching skills in isolation, though supposedly easier, clashes with the way language is used in everyday communication and does not ensure effective preparation for high performance in an academic environment.
The results of ETS® research showed that it is critical for the students to be able to integrate skills in order to be successful in a classroom.
In this sense, one standardized test which has successfully implemented the integrated skills approach to assessment is the TOEFL iBT® test.
