Abstract:
FOOTT PRINTTS is an Erasmus+ co-funded cooperation partnership of seven European educational institutions and organisations from Austria, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Greece, France and Denmark. All seven project partners are involved in in-service teacher training. According to their specific education system, the project partners represent either regional or national, public or private educational institutions in in-service teacher training. Drawing on the diverse nature of participating partner institutions this project´s aim over the next three years (2023-2026) is to create possible conditions for the success of quality in in-service teacher training that are applicable across Europe. In a first step, a comprehensive literature review in the participating countries will analyse the status quo of in-service teacher training with a focus on quality standards. Based on these insights empirical quantitative and qualitative data on practices and perceptions of the quality of in-service teacher training in the European Education Area (EEA) will be generated. The survey will include a total of (N=) 3200 participants and 18 additional expert interviews for qualitative analysis.

Data will be generated on three levels:
(1) The micro-level focuses on teachers’ experiences and perceptions.
(2) The meso-level analyses trainers’ practices and perceptions.
(3) The macro-level identifies practices and perceptions of the quality of in-service teacher training on a national or regional institutional level and includes public and private decision makers, policy makers, coordinators school heads.

The empirical results will be summarised in an evidence-based and comprehensive orientation framework for the quality of teacher training, which will be used to develop an interactive online platform to support and guide teacher trainers. The interactive website (www.foottprintts.eu) will also showcase best practice examples from the EEA. This should support the implementation of a uniform and high-quality training standard for teachers in further education throughout Europe.
