Abstract:
With the emergence of new technologies on a continual basis, it is imperative that Educational Institutions are not only aware of but integrate these new technologies as subject matter and learning tools in their curriculums. One of these emerging technologies is Digital or Serious Games, and is receiving widespread attention not only from corporate institutions but also educational institutions because of its multi-faceted application potential. The purpose of this paper is to present a formalized model for the adoption of Digital Games in Educational Institutions, based on existing models of strategic and educational analysis. This adoption model is still in an early stage of development, but is currently being used for the adoption of one of IBMs Serious Games, Innov8, within the Information Systems curriculum of the authors’ institution. The paper presents the findings of this adoption to date. Keywords:
