Abstract:
The implementation of the “European Space of Higher Education” (ESHE), has involved a major change in the procedures of evaluation of University teaching. Among other things, it has introduced the concepts of "success" or "failure" associated with the number of students who obtained positive results, regardless of the levels of skills and knowledge of students at the time of his admission to the studies, involving teachers, and making it largely responsible for that "success" or "failure".

This article includes the results obtained in the study for four years, since the implementation of the Bologna plan, preliminary evaluation of prior knowledge and capabilities exercises of students admitted to the technical subjects (graphic expression and graphic engineering) in the school of industrial engineering of UNED, showing a direct relationship between this situation and the final results.

It is shown that largely the "quality" of a University, measured in this way, not wholly dependent on their infrastructure and educational staff, but a fundamental value is the level of skills and knowledge that students bring when they begin the studies.
