Abstract:
This article aims is highlighting the ways to improve the tutoring process within the study programs in French at Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu (Romania). The basis of the article is the statistical analysis of the number of students admitted to French-taught specializations and the number of graduates of the same specializations for the last five graduations. The analysis is based on quality improvement methods specific to industrial organizations, adopted and adapted to the university environment, and highlights the role of tutoring activity in the smooth running of the educational process. Specifically, the improvement methodology used is define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC) in an adapted and simplified version. More and more organizations from SMEs to large multinational companies and even some of the educational institutions around the world invest time and money in the process of continuous improvement and a large part of them currently apply the Six Sigma methodology, therefore implicitly DMAIC. In the opinion of the authors, this simplified version was created with the aim of facilitating the continuous improvement process and the understanding of its role and importance, especially in SMEs and in budgetary institutions regardless of their nature. This is preferred because in this type of organization there is not as well implemented a quality culture as in large industrial organizations. The proposed method actually contains a series of predefined forms that are intended to guide the improvement team and the decision-makers during the implementation of this type of DMAIC.
