Abstract:
The deficiency in basic training about technical drawing in students of new entrance in technical careers, such as engineering or architecture, is getting higher every day. Perhaps due to lack of orientation or ignorance, it is not chosen the convenient curricular path in Secondary formation. As an example, it should be pointed out, that approximately 8% of the students who have attended the university entrance and admissions tests in June 2017, have examined the subject of Technical Drawing II throughout the province of Jaén, although the percentage of students entering engineering or architecture degrees is much higher.
Thus, knowledge in fundamentals of technical drawing, and particularly the initial stages of normalization such as obtaining the standardized views of 3D models and their dimensioning, is unknown for the vast majority of the students.
In addition, it is known that this knowledge is the key to develop spatial conception and abstract reasoning, which are so important in technical environments. To solve this deficiency in the previous training of access to the different university degrees, and in order to help the student in the acquisition of competences and skills, a Project of Teaching Innovation is being carried out in the University of Jaén to develop diverse multimedia tools (videos) on a series of simple exercises, such as graphic processes.
In particular, videos have been developed on the 3D modeling process of a piece with a computer-aided design (CAD) software, like the process of automatically obtaining the standardized views and the dimensioning of the part based on these standardized views according to the standard UNE 1-039- 1994, or the process of obtaining the flat section of a piece by a plane defined by 3 non-aligned points and others metric aspects of the section.
The present communication, briefly describes how these videos have been developed thanks to a parametric CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor Professional along with an authoring software tool for the generation of various videos, such as ActivePresenter Free Edition, indicating advantages and disadvantages. Keywords:
