Abstract:
Our study provides a thorough analysis of the usability and accessibility challenges faced by older adults when using software applications. Through 479 surveys conducted in Colombia and Spain, the research identifies a significant need for tailored training and education programs that address the unique requirements of this demographic. The findings reveal that beyond inherent age-related difficulties, older adults express a strong demand for adaptive learning strategies that can significantly enhance their digital literacy and overall user experience.

The multidisciplinary and multicultural approach of this study underscores the necessity for inclusive education systems that support lifelong learning and technological competence in an aging population. The qualitative and quantitative data gathered emphasize the need for training that considers these usage patterns and configuration preferences to effectively bridge the digital divide. These insights are crucial for designing educational interventions that empower older adults to use software applications confidently and efficiently, tailored to their most frequently used devices and preferred customization options.
