Abstract:
The work that is proposed as a paper at the International Conference on Education Research and Innovation ICERI 2009 reflects the experience of implementing technical educational organization in accordance with the European Space of Higher Education in the Degree of Technical Architecture at the Higher Technical College of the University of Burgos .
The subject in which the new teaching method has been implemented is security and Prevention in Construction, which is taught in the 3rd course of the Degree in Technical Architecture and is an implementation of the new configuration of the subject in New Degree in Building Engineering.
One of the proposed techniques is that of the case study combined with the cooperative work and was the result of a gradual implementation over the past three academic years.
In the "case study" you start with the analysis of firm trial judgements, generally of last resort, that analyze critical situations on security at construction sites. Students examine real situations analyzed by experts and they do a critical analysis of specific situations in which there are cases of professional practice in safety and prevention and dysfunction between legislation and reality.
Starting with a personal work of the pupil and later a pooling of all individual contributions, a "cooperative work" aimed at agreeing on the essential points made by the judgments in relation to professional practice is established.
As study techniques, the introduction of the "case study" and "cooperative work" have allowed to increase students' interest to know the significance that has the non-compliance of regulatory requirements on safety in professional practice and it has encouraged teamwork.
