Abstract:
Traditionally, in Costa Rica, the most common methodology used to teach sciences in elementary and higher education tends to be a master class. This means that the communication between the teacher and the students is unidirectional and vertical. However, this limited communication has been the biggest obstacle for the students in order to comprehend and develop what science requires to be learned. It has been observed that students report having more difficulties when it comes to apply the scientific knowledge, compared to simple observation practices. This shows that there is a lack of deep comprehension of the processes involved, resulting in mechanical and automatized reponses to certain exercises. Therefore, it arises the need of a new space where students can interactively participate in their own learning process, applying a bidirectional and more horizontal communication.
Ciencia Accesible is an interdisciplinary student-made project looking to improve the learning process, taking into account that everyone learns in different ways. It aims to change the traditional way of teaching sciences, relying on the visual language of information and communication technologies, and stablishing a relationship between theory, practice and the enviroment, involving the curiosity and creativity of the students. This will not only create a unique learning experience for students, but also for teachers. Keywords:
