Abstract:
Mindfulness consists of focusing all the attention on a particular task, such as breathing, or a specific thought. In addition, the attitude that is maintained in the mindfulness exercise is of listening and acceptance, to oneself and also to others. The objective of using mindfulness exercises in the classroom is to promote creativity and the student's self-awareness. Only by knowing the limits at an academic, personal and professional level, students are able to develop their abilities and skills at a higher level. In this way, it is increasingly important for the educational system to establish the bases of "How to learn", instead of "what to learn" (Hensley, 2020).
In this way, it is intended to promote divergent thinking among students, and the “think out of the box” approach. Through mindfulness dynamics, it is also possible to increase the level of commitment by students in the classroom, and also serves as a practice of approaching them and creating a climate of trust, respect, mutual admiration and growth both personal and professional.
Therefore, the objective is to promote capacities that are multidisciplinary, based on the empowerment to act and think differently, motivating those characteristics that make them unique, and in the future will make them employable. Some studies claim that mindfulness increases the well-being of students. Well-being can be understood as the physical, socio-emotional and cognitive development of students. The greater the development in these areas, the higher the level of well-being. In the same way, studies such as that of Bóo et al., (2019), assure that an increase in well-being has a positive influence on the academic performance of students.
The main objective of study is therefore to analyze the benefits that the use of mindfulness practices in the classroom can create to create a favorable climate for learning, increase the self-awareness of all students at the same time that their academic performance also rises.
Ultimately, educators from schools are responsible for future workforce. To be good professionals, it is necessary to be good people, so in power of educators and academics is to promote integrity, and try to train the best people possible.
