Abstract:
The Accreditation of educational programs, as a means of recognizing strengths and weaknesses, assures the quality of higher education, this has its immediate antecedent in evaluation processes that gained increasing importance in the world from the Decade of the 1980s. This has manifested itself in the policies and programs undertaken by Governments around the world, these programs are supported by international as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO) and policies for Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD), among others.
In the year 2000 was born the Council for higher education accreditation (COPAES), is the body recognized by the Federal Government, through the Secretariat of public education (SEP), to give formal recognition, whose purpose is to accredit educative programs of higher education, offering public institutions and private individuals, prior assessment of organizational, technical and operational capacity. Today, accreditation is national or international. One of the accrediting organisms recognized by COPAES is the CACEI and provides a reference framework for carrying out the accreditation with the guide of this organism.

This work presents a different methodology of the tools for strategic planning, which helped to face this process by generating a projected to 10-year development plan. This methodology provides considerations for tying the strategy and management of knowledge.
Worasinchai, Ribiere and Bechina (2008) authors mentioned that in the current competitive context, organizations have recognized that innovation is a vital ingredient for survival in (2007 Arntzen) knowledge-based economies. To meet the challenges, successful companies should focus on efficiently manage their knowledge which is seen by many as a key source for achieving competitive advantage and innovation (David and Johnson 1997). The analysis of this knowledge, companies competitiveness and become innovative (Husted and Michailova 2002), (Gupta and Michailova 2004).
In today's economy, knowledge and its strategic management constitute
competitive advantage of companies (Eisenhardt and Santos, 2001).
Therefore, a new strategic framework is needed to manage knowledge as main competence of an organization-based strategy.
This methodology was applied in the process of accreditation of the educational program of industrial engineering and systems of the South unit, Navojoa at the University of Sonora. Keywords:
