Abstract:
The PhD project research wants to be an approach to the learning to learn competency (L2LC) by focusing on how to deploy this competency with an intensive use of information and communications technology (ICT).

The research is based on the interest that L2LC as the key skill must be developed as government policies explicit; ICT tools and its functionalities provides new possibilities to support learning processes; and also that practical visions for the L2LC are needed.

We are analysing the processes that enable the development of L2LC, both from strategic and methodological perspectives. The research also aims to identify what practices are being developed with the support of ICT, and shows from students and teachers perceptions, specific practices, which promote the L2LC.

The research results will provide an analysis of the challenges, problems and lessons learned from the L2LC development and the role played by ICT in relation to that and the practices that are being arisen. It will also specify improvement proposals, recommendations and guidelines that facilitate this development considering the ICT use.

To achieve that we propose a multiple case study carried out in contexts with a holistic and intensive use of ICT selected in Catalonia secondary schools.

The first research phase is analysing the development of the L2LC at strategic, methodological and curricular integration levels. The second research phase will provide the L2LC practices developed with ICT support at schools by teachers and students.

The research advance and preliminary results of the first phase can be shared.
