Abstract:
This paper explores MecanismosAR, an advanced educational software that leverages spatial augmented reality to enhance the teaching of mechanism kinematics. Unlike conventional applications that are limited to the visualization of static 3D models, MecanismosAR goes further by allowing the creation, manipulation, and testing of virtual mechanisms in real-time, integrating additional information about the kinematics of movement, such as trajectories, which are not directly visible in the real environment. This approach provides a deeper understanding of the underlying physical principles, enabling users to not only visualize but also interact with the mechanisms and observe their dynamic behavior over time.
MecanismosAR utilizes markerless augmented reality technology, facilitating its implementation in various educational environments without special hardware requirements. The application features a gallery of predefined models, as well as the option to design custom mechanisms, which can be tested in real environments via mobile devices. A distinctive feature is its ability to synchronize with real mechanisms and visually superimpose the trajectories of user-selected points. Its application in educational contexts suggests a significant opportunity to enrich learning, offering an interactive and participatory medium that enhances the understanding of abstract and complex topics. Keywords:
