Abstract:
Most of the students find chemistry very difficult to understand, and many of them decide to study a career with no chemistry in the curriculum. In order to find the reason of this attitude, we were involve in giving chemical experience at children’s in a very early stage, 2-3 years.
Several experiments were performed in order to teach them that chemistry is present in everyday events of life as: the change of color with a natural colorant, changing the pH, from lemon, to water, to detergent. How to produce large bubbles, (using liquid dishwasher, water, honey, ethylenglycol). Why an egg when is dropped in a glass of water sinks? but when salt is added it float
After performing the different experiments, they were very perceptive to understand why the event was happening.
At that age the normal period of concentration in one task is 15- 20 min, the lecture lasted 1 hour and they wanted more, their teachers didn’t believe they were concentrated for so long time. This is a very powerful tool to introduce early children’s in the field of science. Teaching simple facts of everyday life can incentivize them to learn more about the chemical process and they can pursue a scientific career when they have to choose at a later stage. Keywords:
