THE TEXTBOOK AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE IN SPANISH EDUCATION

Abstract:
The textbook is one of the resources most used in the teaching-learning process throughout the history of education in Spain. In the natural sciences, this educational resource has been changing and evolving to adapt to new legislative demands. The objective of this research is to analyze the textbooks of Natural Sciences used in Primary and Secondary Education from the General Education Law, to the Organic Law for the Improvement of Educational Quality in order to observe methodological variations and the influence of laws in content, structure, activities, graphic design and educational technology. To this end, it has done assessment rubric, which contains a items set of what is analyzed. The choice of the specimens under study is done in a representative manner, having different publishers for the study. As for the courses they have used the books belonging to all primary and secondary school courses, except for Primary 1 and 2, which are not subject matter of this work. This choice was made in order to analyze the courses that matter content increases and is more influential in the acquisition of skills by students. The textbook has been positively changing and evolving to adapt to the new demands of society. In Primary and Secondary Education is generally seen as the books have evolved, being little more conceptual and motivators in the General Education Law. Evolving in the General Organic Law of the education system by increasing the quality of content, the introduction of cross-cutting issues and activities that teach students to learn to do; also introduced the concept maps at the end of issue. Later in the Education Act, students learn to understand the immediate environment, to work different types of content (conceptual, procedural and attitudinal) and strengthen basic learning. The studies are adjusted in the European Union and Key skills as a significant learning engine are introduced. Finally, with the arrival of the Organic Law for the Improvement of Educational Quality summarizes the eight basic skills in seven key competencies, content and experiences to enhance student knowledge and technologies related to new resources are observed are accentuated.
