Abstract:
Spain made the key skills an objective of its educational system in 2006 (Organic Education Law). These skills are the foundations on which learning and the place of convergence of all curricular areas and subjects of the curriculum are based. It is what sets the training of the citizens of a country, its critical capacity to see the world and their ability to transform society and adapt to changes. These key skills are intended to give a more holistic approach to learning that allows for a closer relationship with students and their needs which is required in a rapidly changing society.

In implementing these key skills in the education system a number of changes are required. Its implementation does not require an increase in class units and changes in curriculum content. This implies shifting the focus of education. We are trying to transform teaching and in doing so transform learning. However, there are not enough competency programs available for teachers to implement these skills, therefore teacher’s would be changing the methodology and teaching resources for students to acquire skills in the convergence of all the materials.

This study has been conducted through key skills in the subject of Natural Sciences in public and private schools in the province of Castellon. It consists of a questionnaire with different items targeted for teachers. Participation was made voluntarily and anonymously. The treatment of data was and is confidential and used only for research purposes.

Six years after this law came into operation, the results of the study show some significant changes in the classroom. Difficulties in the organization of teachers, time management, and deficiencies in the educational system, lack of resources or poor training of teachers are the most important factors.
