THE BIOLUMINESCENT PRACTICAL COURSE FOR FORMING RESEARCH COMPETENCE PUPILS

Abstract:
To expand the research component in school education the bioluminescent practical course have been developed which is connected with the school curriculum and develop the research skills of pupils.
There are no enough works in the school curriculum to ensure in full requirements of modern education, such as the development of research competence of pupils. This statement applies to the programs on biology and ecology.
The solution of the proposed problem can be based on the use of the phenomenon of bioluminescence - luminescence of living organisms. This natural phenomenon gives us a tool to visualize, i.e. to see many of the characteristics of the living organisms by relatively simple devices - the luminometers, which may be available to schools at a low cost. The achievements of modern science discovered the molecular mechanism of bioluminescence, and the ability to extract from of luminescent organisms the enzymes that control the biochemical reactions emitting the light. The bioluminescence practical course solves the problem of research competence of pupils on biology education in conditions of the practical absence of such workshops in schools.
The laboratory has a manual for the laboratory works, simplified and less expensive model of the device-bioluminometer, reagent for analysis (enzymes preparation "Enzimolyum", FMN and others), dispensers and other accessories. The portable laboratory for modern school practical course in biology and ecology was designed.
The teaching l material consists of a set of mini-research experiments. Laboratory works are designed to support basic school biology course and can be used as demonstrations in biology and ecology classes. A special section of the workshop includes lab works, which are offered as the basis for the school of biological research in-depth studying of the subject, or within the modular learning. Besides a set of laboratory works manual provides a description of the luminous organisms and principles of bioluminescent analysis. The practical course allows bringing closer school education to the modern biological technologies.
The practical courses for pupils
• makes the basic course in biology, through visualization of biological phenomena, interesting and enjoyable for pupils
• promotes pupils' skills of self-searching, processing and analysis, the creative potential of students;
• introduces students to the modern methods of researching and testing;
• allows experiments with objects from the environment (snow, soft drinks, detergents, etc.)
• is easy as for conducting experiments, and it does not contain harmful substances;
• the foundation for environmental education and training of pupils.
The practical course is created for basic and further education of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, CIS and abroad.
The practical course was successfully tested in Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk region: at the natural sciences schools in biophysics under the program "Gifted Children of the Krasnoyarsk", on "Science Festival", "Festival the natural sciences", "The Natural Science Quest," in regular classes with pupils from Kranoyarsk’s schools.
