Abstract:

Humans as social beings always faced with the activities of a group within a community. In this case it is necessary to have an attitude of mutual respect, cooperation, self-control and empathy that is large enough to create a harmonious interaction, so it becomes important to consider how to introduce and instill early education to young children. A nation character building start from personal character education. A great character development start from an early age. The character building in early age is an important base to create progressive and ethical nation. If we fail becoming good person in early ages, we will become bad person when we are adult. Kids are the best assets for parents and nations. Kids will grow and maturate to be adult whose role and function are needed by community. Pets for kids is the way to improve their emotional intelligence and character for kids. Maintenance pets has been shown to provide a positive impact on mental development of children, especially through the implementation of animal welfare. Animal welfare education from an early age can be given to elementary school students and junior high through extracurricular activities. In this activity students will be introduced on how to treat animals properly, will also give rise to love, patience and empathy in students. Learning methods is given through the game, quiz game through use of the equipment and students can directly interact with the animals. Pet for kids is about emotional intelligence improvement and building character with the pets as a media. Pet for kids has positive influence to improve emotional intelligence and character education for kids. It based the belief that the animal has the meaning in the process of the kids' growth and progress. Animal is the friends of human which give the lesson about friendship, support, and love. Expected educational programs about animal welfare is given at an early age, it can provide positive benefits to mental and emotional development of children.
