Abstract:
The teaching process and student-teacher interaction have been changing with the advent of information technology. Knowledge, formerly static, became dynamic and systemic. And in this context, distance learning, allied to the internet, plays an important social role: equality in access to education. The individualistic and independent characteristics of distance learning require the teacher to act proactively in front of the students.

To maximize student outcomes in online courses, teachers must be accustomed to the distance learning environment and able to develop their activities in virtual learning environments. The tutor is the conductor of the course, their attitudes will reflect the attitudes of their students, so assessing the behavior of teachers is paramount to ensure the excellence of teaching.

Througth data stored in the Moodle database, used at the Goiás judicial school, an analysis work was carried out to identify the main characteristics of teachers that can lead to better student performance and that, correlate with the guidelines of Andragogy, which is known as the art of teaching adult learners. The characteristics of the tutors analyzed were chosen based on a literature review, the attributes included in this analysis are: socioeconomic status, teaching experience, motivation, communication, teaching style and feedbacks. The results showed that some of the attributes have positive impacts on student performance, however, others did not influence school behavior. The results obtained were shown to be consistent with previous research and revealed that the behaviors of the investigated teachers are in line with what Andragogy wanted.
