Abstract:
More than 30 years ago, the English specialist-practitioner in the field of management consulting Reg Revans proposed a "learning-by-doing" method for management training. During this time, much has changed in the system of additional professional training, in particular, systems of in-house and corporate training have begun to develop intensively. This fact requires the development of new methods of professional development of employees and improvement of the existing methods. In our paper we consider the mentioned above circumstance.

Firstly, we have carried out the analysis of the "learning-by-doing" method. This analysis includes a competent formulation of the problem, structuring and creating of algorithms of some issues of industrial character. Secondly, the main characteristics of the method are given, with the addition of our refinements to the previously known. Thirdly, new principles for the use of the method in conditions of the corporate training are suggested. These principles are based both on educational principles developed by E. Schlesinger and on the management cycle model proposed by A.M. Mardas. Fourthly, the mechanism of implementation of the method is described with identification of both positive and negative aspects of its application.

Fifthly, potential of usage of "learning-by-doing" method is disclosed the in various areas of in-house training:
a) team coaching in an organization;
b) improvement of the management processes (e.g., operational, tactical, strategic planning);
c) changing of corporate culture;
d) establishment and development of the principles of a self-learning organization; e) participation in assessment centers;
f) introduction of "total quality system";
g) resolution of any challenges of an organization with a large degree of uncertainty.

Finally, features of the application of the method for corporate training or skills development are considered in the paper.

The results, obtained in the paper, help to create effective systems of in-house and corporate training.
