Abstract:

The portal "Cibergenética" (http://cibergenetica.fciencias.unam.mx) was prepared with the objective of integrating in a single place, resources, news and updated information which serves to improve the process of teaching and learning Genetics at the Sciences Faculty of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. The portal provides a useful tool to encourage students to deepen the themes seen in class. The portal is based on Joomla, a content management system, widely used for its ease, their interaction and global reach. The portal has the following sections: blogs, members, societies and events, disclosure and dissemination, links, courses, books, and glossary. The information that appears on cover and disclosure is managed with a subscription to ensure that it is up dated all time. Students show great acceptance of the portal, as they believe that is a good tool for learning about genetics.
