Abstract:
The article compares the entrepreneurship components of the educational programs of MA students of the managerial majors. For this pilot study we chose two technical universities: Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas in Ukraine (IFUONG, major “Management and Administration”) and Poznan Technical University in Poland (PUT, major “Engineering Management”). Ukraine and Poland are parties to the Bologna Convention (Poland since 1999, Ukraine since 2005), which provides for the standardization of the educational process and the functioning of higher education in different countries. At the same time, Poland is a member of the EU, while Ukraine reaffirmed its European integration aspirations only after the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. Poland is a market economy, while Ukraine belongs to transit economies. These factors impact all spheres of life, including the functioning of the education system. Both in Ukraine and in Poland the list of MA programs contains no “Entrepreneurship” major. Instead, we focused on the managerial majors, as we believe they prepare the specialists who are most oriented towards the entrepreneurship. The analysis was carried out in two stages. First, we analyzed the study programs, namely, the content of the working programs of disciplines at IFUONG, as well as ECTS cards in PUT, for selected majors. We found that IFUONG, comparing to PUT, offers students more disciplines providing knowledge in the field of the entrepreneurship. Secondly, we focused of the MA theses of the graduates of selected universities. In particular, after carrying a quantitative content analysis of the English-language versions of theses abstracts of students of managerial majors for 2018-2019 academic year (40 papers in the case of IFUONG and 66 papers in the case of PUT) we found a higher number of instances of the use of entrepreneurship-related terminology in papers of Ukrainian graduates, comparing to the papers of their Polish colleagues. Keywords:
