Abstract:
The introduction of credit points (CP) at most European universities has significantly simplified the comparability of services and therefore international student exchange. This also applies to the European Civil Engineering Management (ECEM) degree course. ECEM will be introduced as part of this conference paper, or, more precisely, the European network behind this degree. It was founded in 1992 as a multilateral partnership of civil engineering faculties at the universities of Groningen, Wolverhampton, Szczecin and Oldenburg. Since then, the network has expanded and undergone changes, which are due to more than simply a new generation of contact partners. As is probably the case everywhere, the Corona measures had a massive impact on international student exchanges.
This paper aims to explain the network, which currently consists of a dozen partners, along with the nature of the study course. The key changes since its formation will be briefly presented. The focus of this paper rests primarily on ‘post-COVID revival’ measures along with the further benefits of student exchange on this network.
The author is an ECEM Coordinator at the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg. This paper therefore contains first-hand information. Since ‘class, not mass’ is also trending among international university partnerships, the ECEM network and this paper may provide a source of inspiration or even act as a role model for other universities and disciplines. Keywords:
