ON LINE AND PRESENTIAL TEACHING

I am using an on line platform to help my teaching since 2.008. The proyect consists of working with this software as another teaching tool in my subject “Television production” in a state high school were the students can learn Professional Training.

One of my aims with this proyect is to improve the computing competences of my students. I also want them to develop the writing competences in technologic words and to encourage their English competences.

The materials used to do those aims has been different software and platforms like “Moodle”, “Youtube”, Sakai, Final Cut and PhotoShop.

We have done several activities. The first one, is a glossary about technological words of television and broadcast. The students must make a word list about the equipment that we use in television so they had to find or take pictures, make a definition with their own words and, if they include the English word, they will had a positive point. That is the way to improve their competences about computing and English. Another activity is to make an on line exam about the glossary done by the students. The experience about it has been all those years very nice.

We also link to “Youtube” where the exercises of my students are on. Our exercises consist of making TV programs such as news, debate, quiz show and so on. In that way, they can watch their program elsewhere.

In the teaching aspect, the students could see the programation of the subject, calendar with updated exams, rehearsal and recording dates, etc; interesting links related with television and an RSS news daily updated about television, cinema or theatre published in an Spanish newspaper.

The result of this experience has been marvellous because they had learn a lot and had been exceeded all expectations. The exams results has always proved it.

One of my conclusion is that the students learn easily with e-learning method. They appreciate very much when you devote your free time to design the teaching to them and their motivations.
