Abstract:
Motor skills have been lately researched from many perspectives, hardly ever are monitored separately. Our main focus is to know whether motor skills also affect reading and writing skills on the background of perceptual maturity in elementary school children. The main aim of the research is to assess if children with higher levels of motor skills have a higher level of perceptual maturity and readiness to read. For this pilot research were chosen 95 children from first grades of ordinary elementary schools in Czech Republic. This pilot research was supported by IGA_PdF_2022_011 project by Educational Faculty Palacky University in Olomouc. Also the consent of the Ethics Committee of this institution was obtained and all legal representatives of the monitored children were apprised with the aims and procedure of the pilot study. The MABC-2 battery test was used for assessment of children’s level of motor skills and for the perceptual maturity was used Edfeldt's reverse test. The research results indicate relation in different areas and bring some interesting results in comparison with current researches with more or less similar topics. Nevertheless, further research on larger research group should be done with higher focus on different chosen skills.
