Abstract:
The present study aims to identify the predictive relationships between the self-esteem and the life satisfaction in Peruvian adolescents. Self-esteem is the appreciation feeling that a person feels towards himself; therefore, it is necessary to develop a balanced life with adequate level of psychological well-being, also called life satisfaction. The participants were 155 students (82 women (52.9 %) and 71 men (45.8 %) between 16 to 20 years old (Mage = 17.40, SD =.80). One concludes that in the correlations analysis was performed with Pearson's r that self-knowledge, self-concept, self-appreciation, self-acceptance and self-respect obtained significant relationships with life satisfaction. Then, the multiple linear regression analysis showed that, the self-concept predicts the life satisfaction (β = .26, p <.05). Then, self-respect predicts the life satisfaction (β = .21, p <.05). Finally, the variables self-knowledge (β = .13, p >.05), self-appreciation (β = .05, p >.05) and self-acceptance (β = -.02, p >.05) do not predict the life satisfaction.
