Abstract:
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic struck globally and has affected higher education institutions and their operations. This triggered significant transformations in education systems worldwide. Until the lockdown in March 2020, we as academics were perusing traditional teaching and learning methods and suddenly the need aroused to transform learning strategies online. This study reflects experiences of academics in immediate transformation to virtual learning strategy from face-to-face teaching in a recognized UK University. Academic reflections suggest that although there were many challenges such as time restrictions, technological inefficiencies etc. associated with the transformation, the online teaching models were able to implement successfully. The main driving factors were identified as proactive institutional strategy, facilitation of training, availability of digital platforms and collegiality. The outcome was rewarding by achieving positive student feedback for enhanced virtual learning experience.
