Abstract:
Since 2000 the educational innovative group “Innovatio Educativa Tertio Millennio” has been working with innovative information technology to create educational platforms. Most of these platforms are based on Content Management Systems (CMS). A combination of various tools is now being used to support instruction in a blended learning context.

The core content of the courses taught for the civil engineering degree is contained in Moodle and Twitter mainly, where communication between teacher and student takes place through all sorts of activities: tests, quizzes, evaluation, documentation, notices, etc. However, surrounding this main core, other tools are employed to manage internal and external resources like the bespoke video platform called ‘Mytube.es’ and also the application ‘Symbaloo’ to organise and compile web links. In addition, teaching has been done by using streaming technologies, mainly through Second Life and Open Simulator that enable lecturers to record classes and produce an educational video. In this presentation, past, present and future technological tools are analysed to discover their innovative applications and select the most advanced of future systems.
