Abstract:
Since 2009, the Coordination of Technologies for Education (CTE), created at General Direction of Computing and Information Technologies and Communication of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, has the mission to offer to teachers of our University continuous training in how to use technologies in academic activities.
Based on the technological needs for the University population, an ICT (Information Technologies and Communication) training project was created, considering that for each teacher trained, a group of at least 30 students every half a year is reached.
For two years, the CTE has noticed a common ground in the use of tools by teachers, so we decided to research deeply this issue. We found that some applications are used by teachers in all disciplines, but others are used specifically for each area of knowledge.
In this paper we present the methodology we propose for obtaining the way teachers use technology in learning processes related to different disciplines. Furthermore, we present results of the first carried out phase to identify whether the use of technologies transforms, in any sense, the ways of teaching and learning is developed.
The research we are conducting has the following purposes:
• Provide elements to identify the Technologies for Learning and Knowledge (TLK) linked to each area of knowledge.
• Define what kind of cognitive skills can be archived in students through TLK.
• Contribute to teacher training in the use of TLK so students have a better learning outcomes. Keywords:
