Abstract:
Teacher training today becomes a challenge for higher education institutions, the art of teaching requires responding to various needs, which not only implies for the teacher to have a good disciplinary and / or pedagogical training, but also, it requires responding to other skills resulting from the new demands in relation to the student population, institutional policies, as well as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

This paper presents the experience of the University of Quindío and the academic program Information and Documentation Science, Librarianship and Archival Science in relation to the implementation of teacher training strategies and educational management for the strengthening and development of skills on information and communication technologies. Additionaly, the teacher qualification strategies are in line with the strengthening of the institutional virtual strategy, based on a training program aligned with the Academic Curricular Policy, the Uniquindian Educational Project and the Institutional Development Plan. As a consequence, the university builds a program that seeks to develop and strengthen the competencies that will allow teachers and students to make a more effective use of technologies and information and communication in their teaching and learning process.
