Abstract:
Reflective learning is a process where the student reflects on his learning experience. This implies an intentional and complex process which is influenced by the role of the social context and student’s experience. Therefore, it is a very relevant type of learning in professionalising contexts. This process is known as reflective practice, as the use of the reflective process allows the student to understand critically his own experience and to act accordingly. In order to reach this level of learning we can use different strategies, such as simulations, case studies or Problem Based Learning (PBL), among others.
In this article we intend to share how a PBL experience has been developed in the Nursing Degree at the University Jaume I (Spain). The article details the learning context, the design of the experience and the perceptions of the students during the process, and eventually the evidence of learning.
Finally, the design of the PBL activity is linked to the competency framework of the Nursing Degree, in order to assess the contribution of this methodology to the training of future nurses, emphasising the transversal competencies that it favours, which include reflective learning, student autonomy and ability to work as part of a team. Keywords:
