Abstract:
In recent years, the world is facing enormous challenges due to the tremendous developments in the field of Engineering and Technology and ethical value based technical education training is gaining attention due to competitive global market. This paper describes the impact of general education in engineering programmes. The requirements of general education in accreditation of engineering programmes were presented in this paper. The concepts of benevolence, morality, sympathy and truthfulness should be instructed to the students for a modern and peaceful society. Conscientious practice of engineering requires an understanding of social needs and values. Social and ethical values play a vital role in determining the capacity of engineer on critical circumstances. The analysis was done based on the details of student’s registration and Engineering Programmes in Yanbu Industrial College, Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
