Abstract:

Research conducted so far has indicated a decrease in interest in school among older elementary school students. In order to evaluate the attitude students have towards the curriculum, we evaluated their own evaluation of their favourite subjects. The aim of this paper is to gain some insight into the popularity of subjects and into the predominant reasons that make these subjects their favourites. The results have shown that their favourite subject is Physical Education, and subjects at the very bottom of the list are Physics, Chemistry and Design and Technology. The results show gender-based differences in the popularity of subjects, with boys favouring History, Mathematics and IT. There is a connection between how well-liked a particular subject is and the reason behind this, which is an individual teacher’s methodology for subjects like History, Serbian Language, Music, Mathematics, Physics and IT.
