Abstract:
With the rise of technology in education, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful tool for enhancing academic writing skills. This research paper discusses the design and development of an online learning module, "AI-Powered Academic Writing", which integrates AI tools with the IMRD framework to support academic writing processes. This module was created using the Design and Development Research (DDR) approach, with three instructional design (ID) and AI experts leading the curriculum development. The module was then converted into an interactive online platform using the authoring tool Rise 360, following Gagne’s nine events of instruction.
This module's effectiveness was assessed for face and content validity using a questionnaire completed by 10 academic experts, focusing on relevance, clarity, and comprehensiveness of the content. The questionnaire responses, based on a Likert scale, were analyzed for internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, ensuring the reliability of the questionnaire. Preliminary results demonstrate the high effectiveness and validity of the module, suggesting its potential to enhance academic writing practices.
This study contributes to the growing discourse on integrating AI in education, particularly in academic writing. It also highlights the potential of e-content development in leveraging AI to enhance learning outcomes. Findings from this study offer insights for educators and researchers interested in integrating AI tools into academic writing instruction and provide a solid foundation for further research in this area. Keywords:
