Abstract:
Context:
The educational system is the one that influences the path that a community follows. This is the reason why in this ever-changing world the European Union decided to give more attention to the development of digital competences. Following these measures the Romanian government financed the development of digital manuals.
Objective:
This paper seeks to investigate the open-source market for analyzing solutions that can be used in a primary school in Romania for developing competencies in Mathematics and Environmental exploration and discovering the missing elements that can be further approached in the development.
Method:
Firstly, the research begins with identifying open-source software that can be used for the primary school in developing skills in the topic of Mathematics and Environmental exploration subject. Secondly, a list of evaluation criteria is gathered by synthesizing papers on this subject, looking through the development plans and adding a personal double perspective as a developer and as a graduate of pedagogical studies. Finally, an evaluation of the chosen solutions is conducted.
Results:
As a result, the paper offers a clear overview of the software that can be used in the classroom right now. Furthermore, it highlights things that the development community can improve and gaps in the market that can become opportunities.
Conclusion:
This paper takes steps in identifying the market offer of open-source and what needs to be developed to achieve the competencies the Romanian educational system expects from the Mathematics and Environmental exploration subject.Keywords:
