Abstract:
Our main idea is to create Virtual Research Laboratory on Electronic and Computer Technologies (VRLECT) as a multi-national virtual area, which combines the resources of other educational and research institutions. The main project objective is the development and integration into the global web-space of distributed computer environments to support research in the field of advanced electronic and computer technologies. The combination of different approaches for research in specific areas of electronics with the principles of virtual reality, three-dimensional (3D) simulations, and intelligent search is a prerequisite for building a Virtual Research Laboratory, which allows increasing the efficiency of the experiments and the ability to spread knowledge. In addition this virtual environment could have a positive impact on the development of distributed learning in these areas.

The structure of the local virtual environment is developed as an aggregation of five subsystems and local repository. Each subsystem provides a suitable interface for communication with users and implements certain features to provide opportunities to conduct research in the field of electronic circuits and advanced computer technology.

• Control Subsystem - manages user access to VRLECT resources, based on rules, information security and resource sharing. For the realization of its tasks must support the following features:
o To manage the access rolls to the system resources (local data repository and subsystems);
o To guarantee system security and to prevent the internal data from external attacks;
o To manage resource sharing.

• Communication subsystem - supports the exchange of information objects between a VRLECT by providing protected, secure, reliable and affordable synchronous and asynchronous communications.

• Information subsystem – bring together and manage a fund of VRLECT and provide the following features:
o Secure and authorized access to information in the local repository;
o Extracting context-dependent information from the local repository;
o Extracting context-dependent information from the global network.

• 3D virtual environment - an experimental solution in the field of web-based technologies for the organization of three-dimensional virtual training department.

• Experimental subsystem - the main tasks of the experimental subsystem require providing the following features:
o Secure, authorized access to system resources (repository objects, laboratory equipment, simulation environment);
o Reservation laboratory equipment for time period;
o Management the access to the laboratory equipment, depending on the scheme of reservation and the monitoring sharing;
o Extraction of previously stored input data for the experiment in the local repository;
o Remote experiment management;
o Remote experiment monitoring;
o Storing the results of the experiment in the local repository;
o Calculation and systematization the results of experiments.

• The local repository is implemented as a relational database, which held:
o The user’s personal data, their rights, defined by the given role;
o Information resources (publications, stored in our system);
o Information on research projects and performed experiments (preliminary data and results of the experiments).
