Abstract:
The article aims to describe and analyse communication models under the conditions of the digital transformation of education. ICT, in terms of communication, have shown their possibilities, but have also led to the question of how much and in what way we are ready to exploit their possibilities in education. The shock experienced by education at the time of the Covid 19 virus pandemic left both positive and negative traces. A completely new and hitherto unknown situation opened up questions, demanded answers and solutions for which there was no time for deeper reflection. Society and the community did not have a crisis management plan, there was no strategy and everyone managed according to their own possibilities. Statistical data showed that Croatia is not sufficiently technologically prepared, that a small number of people have computer and IT skills, and that we are only at the beginning of the digital transformation. In the educational system, the e-school project was initiated, which was supposed to prepare schools for the digital transformation. This is how a good idea, which should have been realised through a pilot project, was discontinued.

In this article we will investigate and show how the appropriate use of information and communication technologies contributes to:
- the efficient and transparent school management
- the development of digitally competent teachers who are more ready to apply innovations in their pedagogical practices
- the development of digitally competent students who are more ready to continue their studies and more competitive in the labour market (indirect objective).
